The BLT: delicious? Definitely. Exciting? Not particularly. It's a pretty straightforward sandwich, easy to make at home. But at Goat Town, the relatively new restaurant on East 5th Street, they've reworked this classic sandwich into a gourmet treat. At least that's what it seems like according to the brunch menu.

In Compton, Guy found that having a convertible allows him to sniff out the best places, like "Bludso's B-B-Q." He met with owner, Kevin Bludso to find the best Texas barbeque in California. As he showed Guy how he makes his barbeque sauce, Guy was in love with the multiple ingredients he used and the ribs were to die for. The greens were his mother's recipe for collard greens that Guy just loved. Then he told Guy that he was opening another location in Los Angeles, which was a pleasant surprise. Watch out, Los Angeles, you are in for a treat!

CPH is the place you're always among friends, especially during social hour Monday through Saturday from 3-6pm. This is when you'll enjoy discounted bar snacks, specialty cocktails, glass wines and draught beer. Also check out Monday's Pop and Chop special. Simply put, buy a bottle of wine and get a chopped salad free.

There were no marketing materials so we will start by quoting the back label. "Borgo Reale Malvasia is made up of carefully selected grapes grown in the Apulia region of southern Italy. This light red fizzy aromatic wine shows pleasant notes of strawberry, raspberry, beef ragu bill granger hints of ripe cherry. Thanks to its crisp acidity, soft mouth, and red fruit lingering aftertaste, it is the perfect wine served as an aperitif, with cheeses and light entries. Best served chilled." And now for my review.

As a super busy working mom, I couldn't live without my slow cooker. Slow cookers are wonderful for helping busy families enjoy healthy home cooked meals without a lot of fuss after a busy day at work. Unfortunately, after the slow cooker meal is done, the slow cooker itself can sometimes be a real bear to get cleaned. There are some tips for making slow cooker clean-up a little easier. Most folks like pasta in general; and when you add ground beef and a tomato or marinara sauce and cheese - voila! It makes for a meal that can't be beat! Italian foods have long been very popular throughout the world and lasagna is certainly no exception. Perhaps the simplicity in structure is one of the reasons it is a very popular food choice for many families today.

First, Olympic marathoner Deena Kastor's shares this pumpkin mexican lasagna in her cookbook.
